Ivan Cornejo, I’ve been listening to Ivans music for a couple of years now, and Mirada is by far one of my favorite albums. I really like the whole album, from when I first heard it I fell in love with it. It gives a rollercoaster of different emotions while still being enjoyable. I really enjoyed the songs “Atención,” “Vuelve,” “Miríada,” and “Sale para ser feliz.” Of course, the rest of the songs were great as well, these just stood out to me the most and if I had to recommend this album to someone, I would recommend these songs.
My top song for Ivan’s new album would have to be “Atencion.”. In the song he sings about wanting the attention of a girl really likes, he saw her and immediately fell in love with her. He talks about how just with a couple seconds of eye contact, he is stuck on her 24/7. He talks about how he doesn’t know how to win her over but he wants to, he wants her attention without even knowing who she is.
Ivan Cornejo’s music is a unique blend of traditional Mexican sounds and modern influences, especially from genres like trap and hip-hop. He’s known for his work within the corridos tumbados movement, which takes the storytelling tradition of Mexican corridos and mixes it with more contemporary production. His songs are often introspective and emotional, dealing with themes like love, heartbreak, and personal struggles, which resonate strongly with younger audiences.
The themes throughout Mirada are deeply personal—focusing on love, heartbreak, self-discovery, and inner conflict. His lyrics feel raw and poetic, and his voice has a vulnerability that makes these tracks feel authentic and real. There’s a balance between the slower, more reflective songs and those
with a slightly more upbeat rhythm, but the overall tone of the album is introspective and emotional.
The title Mirada (meaning “glance” or “gaze”) hints at the album’s reflective nature—almost like Cornejo is looking inward or at life through a different lens. It’s about examining emotions and experiences from a deeper perspective.
“The reason I named the album “Mirada” is because I feel like a gaze, a stare, is a lot deeper than it seems. I feel like you can create a whole fantasy with just looking at someone, and them staring back at you. I feel like just there’s so much deepness when you look into someone’s eyes.”
