Eslabon Armado, led by Pedro Tovar, has been a constant presence in my Spotify playlist. Originally from Patterson, California, the group has been one of my favorite artists for a long time. Their name, which translates to “a united chain” or “linked chain,” was chosen by Pedro and his brother Brian’s father.
Pedro has shared that his passion for music started at a young age, inspired by his father’s involvement with a sierreña music group. “My dad used to help this music group back in the day when we lived in the Bay Area,” Pedro said. “He started listening to sierreña music, and that’s when my passion for music started. He would write songs—not professionally—and I started to write too. I was, like, 10 years old.”
Must-Listen Songs
Eslabon Armado has an incredible discography, making it difficult to choose just a few favorites. However, here are some songs I highly recommend:
-
“Hermosura de Mujer” (Desvelado album) – A beautifully written love song.

Haces mi vida tan simple sólo con un beso de tus labios
Tú y yo acurrucados…” -
“No Voy a Odiarte” (Desvelado album) – A heartfelt breakup song about accepting the end of a relationship despite the lies and betrayals.
“Y en la balanza lo que más pesa
Pa’ ya sacarte de mi cabeza
Pero yo no voy a odiarte…” -
“Ella Baila Sola” (feat. Peso Pluma, Desvelado album) – An energetic, upbeat song with an incredible trumpet solo that makes you want to dance. It tells the story of a man instantly captivated by a woman dancing alone.
“No soy un vato que tiene varo
Pero hablando del corazón, te cumplo todo…
Me agarro pegadito de su mano
Mi compa ni se la creyó que la pasar fui yo…”
Other notable tracks include “Si Supieras” (feat. Danny Lux), “Me Matas” (Corta Venas album), “La Troka” (feat. Tito Double P), “Quédate Conmigo” (feat. Grupo Firme), “Hasta la Muerte” (feat. Ivan Cornejo), and “Tal Vez” (Vibras de Noche album).
Pedro Tovar on Writing About Heartbreak
Many of Eslabon Armado’s songs revolve around love and heartbreak, and Pedro has been open about his personal experiences influencing his lyrics.
“Pedro, have you had your heart broken before, or why do you write so much about heartbreak?”
“In fact, yes. I’ve had my heart broken. I had an experience where I was hopeful about someone, but it turned out she didn’t want anything with me. But oh well, love comes and goes. Love is something very confusing—you never really know if the person will love you the way you love them.” – Pedro Tovar
Eslabon Armado continues to create music that resonates deeply with fans, blending raw emotions with sierreña and regional Mexican sounds. Whether you’re in love, heartbroken, or just looking for good music, their songs have something for everyone.
