What does Earth Day really mean? What is the importance of it? We all ask ourselves these questions and now it’s time to get an understanding of it. Earth Day helps people grow their knowledge of various issues going on environmentally and what they can do to help these issues grow more present to people and solve them.
Another important factor of Earth Day in the world is it brings the annual reminder every year that the earth is going through major climate changes and various impacts brought onto it by society. But every year we continue to have more and more movements of people getting together and engaging in activities to help support the earth and clean up the environment.
Earth Day started after Author Rachel Caron released her book “Silent Spring” in 1962, which helped bring various issues of harmful chemicals and the long-term effects it has on wildlife, nature and people in general. Caron’s book helped Wisconsin’s past senator Gaylord Nelson to help kick start and create the movement for Earth Day. This would eventually help to bring attention to all the problems that were going on in the world, as well as kick start multiple events in over 141 different countries around the world.
Earth Day has been renowned for so many years now, and it will continue to be one of the days where we should value what we have and have people protect it as well. Another important factor is making sure we pick up after ourselves and make sure that we continue to keep our earth the way we want it to be if we want to have our planet stay the same. Always remember to pick up after yourselves if you want to have the earth clean.
